REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
To be able to work with a computer that is capable of data transfer speeds in excess of 700MB/s and then to have a battery charge last just over twelve hours is unheard of in any portable system, other than the 2013 MacBook Air. The inclusion of the Haswell chipset makes this possible and then some. Intel’s new HD5000 graphics makes gaming on new laptops (and portables such as this MBA) possible without the need to seek a specific system that might contain a non-integrated GPU. The new 2013 MacBook Air is just that good. Although benchmarks are very limited for the OSX environment, a quick look at these two benchmarks draw a pretty clear picture of what this system is capable of; simply click to enlarge:
And then there is a question of build. The 2013 MacBook Air has been engineered to perfection with every corner rounded and every edge smooth to the touch. It doesn’t have that tinny feel, as many ultras do and it has a very well balance, stable and ‘low to the ground’ feel, much as you get when riding in a corvette. Add to that such things as the magnetic MagSafe 2 power connector and the rubber gasket around the lid to prevent future damage and it is very evident that Apple intended this system to be the best build out there.
Last but not least, we can speak positively to configuration and pricing as the new 2013 MacBook Air hasn’t gone up in price from the former, as many may have expected. In addition, configuring your own system is more viable with such options as 8GB RAM, a Core i7 processor and even a 512GB SSD, as those upgrades are definitely reasonable than we previously saw where that 512GB upgrade could total over $1000 without return of your original SSD.
To close, I am admittedly still a PC guy to much extent. I have not found real purpose in OSX but to enjoy playing around with it and this system is about to undergo its first experience with BootCamp where we transform it into a dual boot OSX/Windows 7 system. Only then can we state that it is the best Windows 7 ultra on the planet! Editors Choice!
Where did you buy this from? The price listed on Apple is $2100 dollars? DId you buy it from retail or Apple, are you from Australia or America?
We have links in the article that lead right to sales. Do they not help?
Cheers 🙂
“The 13″ MBA has a 1440 x 900 native resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio”
I think you might find it’s closer to 16:10 🙂
Right you are…corrected and thanks!
