The Schlage Touchscreen Deadbolt utilizes the trusted locking hardware components of a standard Schlage lock – an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Grade 1 Residential Security Rating, the highest rating that can be obtained in ANSI Residential Security and on the market.
The deadbolt features a Schlage C-keyway 5-pin tumbler, providing the traditional mechanical operation of a deadbolt with a key. It can also be re-keyed to match any pre-existing locks in the residence, although a certified locksmith must perform the re-keying.
In addition to the traditional mechanical operation, the deadbolt also possesses a motorized bolt that can be activated either through the electronic touchscreen or through the Nexia Home Intelligence (app) application on the user’s smartphone. We will get to the app later, which is in a whole league of its own.
The Deadbolt Touchscreen features a matte finish electronic touchscreen that protects against fingerprint marks or wear overtime, providing that extra level of protection that current button-coded locks do not possess.
Powered by 4 AA batteries, the Schlage Touchscreen Deadbolt has a blu backlit interface, allowing for easy identification of the numeric keypad when it is dark. The deadbolt is also Nexia (Home Intelligence) capable, thereby allowing the motorized deadbolt to be either locked or unlocked by the Nexia application.
