When choosing a memory kit to run in your computer, you shouldn’t take that choice lightly. Your RAM is basically the backbone of your system that enables everything to run buttery smooth. Should you decide to go with a smaller RAM kit, such as 4GB, you may not be able to keep too many programs running at the same time. If you choose you want something larger, like the Patriot Viper 32GB kit that we are going to be looking at in this review, then you have the freedom to run virtually all the programs you could want at the same time!
The front of the packaging that our Viper memory kit came in is pretty basic. We have a large cutout that has a plastic screen in it, allowing us to have a closer look at one of the modules. On the left side is a large white box that tell us that we have a 32GB kit that consists of 4x8GB sticks of DDR3 2133Mhz memory. This particular memory kit is available at Amazon, for $339.99. Patriot has put a lifetime warranty on all of their memory kits, so that should put your mind at ease about spending this much on a memory kit!
Flipping the box over, we find another cutout showing us the back side of one of the modules. On the right side is a basic overview of the RAM, written in several different languages. In the lower right hand corner is the part number, as well as the UPC barcode.
The RAM itself comes packaged into two blister packs, each holding two sticks of memory.
Getting the sticks out of the blister packaging we can really get a closer look at the memory. As you can see there is a large blue aluminum heatspreader, over a green PCB. The part number, PV332G213C1QKBL, is visible on the white sticker.
As I said before, this is an 8GB x 4 stick kit, which is aimed at the enthusiast market. Specifically it’s aimed at those running on the Intel X79 platform, which has support for quad channel memory. That doesn’t mean that you can’t simply run this in dual channel on an older, lower end system. In fact, that’s what we’re going to be doing in this review!

The Patriot Viper 2133MHz 32GB DDR3 memory kit does it's job and it does it with style. Without breaking a sweat, the Viper sticks!
I have a love hate relationship with Patriot – I go through a lot of kits – but when heat spreaders simply fall off when the stick gets warm – well I think there’s a problem in manufacturing -and rma’ing Patriot fall apart modules gimme a break. its in 2 pieces – why should I have to pay more. New sticks will pass testing and then when they get hot under lengthy workload fail because the heat sink isn’t really firmly attached. You might as well source good sticks without heat spreaders and stick on your own – at least you know who to blame.
