DESIGN
The hybrid gaming mouse features an aluminum base, this really adds to the whole feel of the mouse. It feels more rigid, and stable, giving us the impression that it has the quality to last a life time of gaming.
At the front of the mouse, just forward from the left and right click buttons, there is the dongle that represents the hybrid aspects of this mouse. Going back to our original BMW design analogy, BMW features a ActiveHybrid technology that allows for it to utilize both an electric motor and combustion engine in order to power the vehicle, creating a hybrid of both an electric and gas powered vehicle. The Level 10 M Hybrid mouse has a similar concept, most gaming mice are corded as this allows for little data loss while in use, for now we will consider this to be our combustion engine.
It is a reliable source of power for the mouse, but it has it’s limitations (I.e., the cord getting in the way). However the hybrid mouse also features 5.6G wireless capabilities, which we will consider to be our electric motor. While the wireless capability of the hybrid mouse alleviated the pain of having a cord to deal with, it does pose to question the efficiency of data transfer. Bring in those intelligent engineers/designers again, as Thermaltake and BMW DesignworksUSA have utilized 5.6G technology over the usual 2.4G. Many wireless mice that you see today feature 2.4G connectivity, meaning that the mouse will transfer the data on a particular wireless “highway”. Now picture rush hour on that highway, when multiple people are utilizing that same wireless frequency with their wireless mice, that highway can be convoluted, slow down data transfer, even noticing interference while in use. The 5.4G technology can be considered to be the “Toll Route Highway”, while some people may still utilize that highway the amount of traffic will be reduced, thus increasing efficiency and speed. The problem with this method however, is that you can only stay on that highway for so long, and by tho we mean battery life. Bring back the folks who put this wonderful piece of technology together, and the problem is solved. The hybrid design allows you to utilize both corded and cordless technologies to ensure that the mouse is utilizing the reliability of the corded mice, yet grabbing the fully loaded wireless options as well.
Having both corded and cordless options for a mouse, is really quite convienent. You get the convenience of utilizing wireless capabilities and using the mouse pretty much everywhere, but you also get the added benefit of knowing that when the game is on the line, and the slightest mouse mistake could cost you the game, you have the corded option as a reliable backup.
On top of the gorgeous style that the Level 10 M hybrid mouse features, Thermaltake and BMW DesignworksUSA have also included an enhanced ergonomic design on the right side that trumps the previous, multi-award winning, M mouse. In addition to that, the mouse also features a 3D-Steering Axis system. This customizable system is designed to let you alter and shape the mouse to fit your needs and to best suit your comfort by adjusting the mouse’s angle and height.
Thermaltake, Tt eSPORTS and BMW DesignworksUSA really pulled out all of the stops with the Level 10 M Hybrid gaming mouse. When we previously looked at the Thermaltake Challenger Illuminated gaming keyboard, we saw the incorporation of a small fan that allows you to keep gaming for hours on end without having to worry about that awkward ‘sweaty’ feeling. With the hybrid mouse, Thermaltake also incorporated an Air-Through ventilation system. This different design gives an open concept to the mouse, with openings on the left and right side of the ouse, as well as small perforations on the top of the mouse where your palm would rest. This is such a simple, yet overly impressive concept that really should be used in other gaming mice. It was astonishing to see the difference in comfort ability that just small perforations could make.
On the bottom of the Level 10 M Hybrid mouse, we can see the five feet that allow for very smooth movement across almost every surface, the pairing button, the power switch, as well as the Laser M8 Turbine. The optical , invisible, laser sensor allows for the a sensitivity level from 100 to 8200 DPI.
Speaking of DPI, located on the left side of the hybrid gaming mouse, you will find three buttons. The two front are your macro switches, and the innovative pad is the third switch. The pad allows for movement in four directions, and is set by default to increase and decrease the DPI. When you take a closer look at your settings in the user interface, you will see that you can adjust the switches to configure quick profile switching or on-the-fly sensitivity adjusting. Let’s take a closer look at the software that comes with the Level 10 M hybrid gaming mouse.
