Cooling has been a non-issue throughout testing. During actual use, we almost never saw either card reaching above 60°C. When we tested with FurMark we found the card that we ended up pulling apart ran at a consistent max temperature of 82°C after 15 minutes of FurMark running. The secondary card had a maximum temperature of 63°C. These temperatures are quite acceptable; it’s in the 95°C+ range that problems usually arise.

The cooling on these cards was so effective that even after having stayed at maximum temperature for some time, they go back to idle temperatures within moments. We measured a 20°C drop in GPU temperature in less than 6 seconds. Using the MSI Gaming App’s built in cooldown function is unnecessary, it just cools that well by default. That means that if you’re looking for a card to overclock, this one should be a serious candidate.

Achieving a consistent 50-90% improvement in performance across the board is very useful, the only shame is that there are a few games that don’t support SLI.

All of our testing bears this out over and over again; benchmarking or measuring in-game performance, two cards solidly beats one every time.
