To take our analysis one step further, we repeated all of the above tests while utilizing PlexTurbo. As we stated earlier in the article, this will monitor frequently accessed data and store it into the RAM to increase real-world performance. Let’s see how it makes out! To start we have included the benchmark tool that Plextor supplies within their own software, just so we can get an idea of what’s in store for us.

After running the Diagnostic Scan, it shows us the ‘awesomeness’ that is PlexTurbo. On the left we have our standard testing, with read speeds of 747 MB/s and write speeds of 580 MB/s. When we enable PlexTurbo on our PCIe SSD, we are now reaching read speeds of 8125 MB/s and write speeds of 7575 MB/s … Incredible! Also with Plextool, we can also check out the drive’s status, secure format the SSD, update the firmware, read into the SMART results and of course activate PlexTurbo.

ATTO DISK BENCHMARK

It is important to remember that we are using DRAM for data transfer, hence ATTO’s more skewed visualization. Consistent transfer speed performance is not as common as what we usually will be able to visualize with SATA 3 testing.

CRYSTAL DISK BENCHMARK

Now we are getting somewhere. With Crystal Disk Mark, we reach similar speeds that were listed in PlexTool’s Diagnostic Scan, read speeds of 8589 MB/s and write speeds of 7916 MB/s.

AS SSD BENCHMARK

Switching up benchmark tool’s does show us that the M6e Black Edition so have a human side, while only reaching 4377 MB/s read and 2128 MB/s write. On the other hand, in the AS SSD Copy Benchmark, the M6e Black Edition scorches through the game transfer with a speed of 1508 MB/s!

ANVIL STORAGE UTILITIES

With Anvil we have something interesting, our read speeds come in exactly where we would now expect them, but our write speeds – not so much. Our sequential write speed comes in at 541 MB/s, a little controversial as to what we have seen lately. We put the M6e Black Edition through this test a few more times on separate occasions and were returned with identical results.

PCMARK VANTAGE X64 HDD SUITE

Lastly, we run our M6e Black Edition through Vantage. As we expected our total score increased to 124975, while our fastest recorded transfer speed was that of Window Media Centre at 951 MB/s.
