EXTERIOR
Taking a look at the all-aluminum exterior, we can see the case has a bit of an angled design with the side panels, it gives the case some depth and character. It also has its front I/O which includes power, reset, two USB 3.0 ports, as well as the usual audio ports on the side without the windowed panel, this is one of the very few problems we had with the case.
The problem with having the front I/O on the other side is in most situations the user will have to decide whether to actually be able to see the windowed side panel or have easy access to the front I/O, with the latter option basically defeating the purpose of having a windowed chassis in the first place. This is definitely an area we would hope Phanteks improves on this design in the future.
Taking a look at the opposite side here we see the windowed side panel and the interior of the case. Both panels snap into place and are on hinges to allow ease of access, this makes working inside your case an absolute pleasure.
After removing the panels, we get a clear look at the inner-chassis, and we must say, this has got to be one of the best built cases we’ve ever had our hands on. The frame is very solid, and even with an entire system inside, it still feels very rigid and sturdy.
The ease of taking off the top and front panel were a huge bonus for us as it makes wiring, cleaning and everyday maintenance a breeze. That being said, you’ll want to be sure not grab the case from the top though, as it is may seem like a handle but is actually very easily detachable from the main chassis.
The Evolv has support for power supplies up to 216mm (8.5 inches) with the middle drive mount removed, and 180mm with the mount still in place.
