EXTERIOR AND AESTHETICS
Finally getting the PSU, the Silencer Mk III 850W as mentioned before has an all-white colour scheme:
The top of the unit accentuates the heavy-duty 140mm double ball-bearing cooling fan while the bottom has AC/DC input/output information highlighted in the specifications section:
The front has a honeycomb see-through stylized vent along with an on/off switch, AC input receptacle, and a slider to switch fan settings between ‘normal mode’ and ‘silent mode’.
The backside has eight modular inputs featuring male 4/5-pin DIN headers. They come protected with translucent rubber silicone caps. The native hardwired cables are also present at the back, extending from a cut-out secured by a rubber ring to prevent fraying and damage.
The sides of the Silencer Mk III 850W have two flaps, one on each side. Once the four screws are removed from the top by the 140mm fan, the flaps simply need to be lifted to open the PSU. While not frustratingly rigid, the flaps did require a little bit of force to pry upwards. As can be expected the flathead screwdriver used for this task slipped a few times, making rough contact with the white enclosure, but left no marks which highly illustrates the excellent build quality of the PSU.
