Undoubtedly the leader of the pack when it has come to product release events has been Kingston. It doesn't seem so long ago that we were invited to a little place called the Bellavita in Taipei where Kingston's last HyperX party was led by the country's top models and enough press to make your head spin. Let's take a quick look back at that event...but could Kingston ever trump this? Well, on my 50th birthday, I just got out of a Ferrari F430 Spider, fully branded with Kingston HyperX markings ,and was just introduced to some wicked driving that through the streets of Taipei that could never occur in North America. Hows that for a start? KINGSTON HYPERX OC TAKEOVER AND RELEASE EVENT Today, we had the esteemed privilege of being invited to the Kingston HOT and release event at the Kelti Tower in Taipei, Taiwan. A quick indicator that this event might be well planned was evident in the red carpet leading into the building from a uniquely branded Ferrari out front that held a retail cost well above that of most peoples homes. As soon as we entered the building, we were met by more platinum blondes than one could ever imagine. For those not familiar with technology events, marketing is a completely different animal and the term 'geeks and girls' harnesses a true sense of reality. And we haven't even entered the event yet! On entering the event, we were greeted by the Kingston HyperX Security Crew. You just didn't mess with this. As you entered the facility on the left, there were more games than one could imagine to check out, many equipped with Kingston gear in some way, shape or form. Through this crowd, I happened upon our site boss as she was being taught the fine art of driving: NEXT PAGE... From the left, we could see the stage to the front and large number of seats set up for the audience. Perhaps the only comparable to this might be what we typically see at the Samsung product release events every year in January. HyperX was definitely the theme of the day. On the right side of the room were several teams competing in the Kingston HyperX OC Takeover Event. This was an invitation only event with a grand prize of $10,000. While watching this, I had the opportunity to grab a rather interesting photo, one that reinforces that overclocking must be done with a great deal of patience and care. I don't typically include full length shots but thought this merited exception. In a short time the room started filling with invited guests and, everywhere you looked, you were once again reminded that this was most definitely a Kingston HyperX party. Much as we had seen years before with the original HyperX release, an incredible number of guests were in attendance, much more than seating alone could accommodate. Here is a shot with the Azubu Taipei Assassins Gaming Team. Umm... Karen must you photo bomb Bebe, Achie, morning and the team? NEXT PAGE... Once the event started, the HyperX Team introduced Kingston's new product line for the event. First up was Kingston's new Gen 2 MobileLite Wireless Media Reader. The new MobileLite Wireless G2 allows extended storage and streaming of media by smartphones and portable devices and it provides for multi-user streaming of content. The G2 adds to the first generation with a 4640 maH portable battery for charging, an ethernet port, as well as connectivity for a 3G dongle. Also on the docket was the newest SSDNow 310 960GB SSD. This SSD is capable of 536MB/s read and 485MB/s write performance. We then saw the new Kingston HyperX Fury SSD, a LSI SandForce driven SSD with the SF-2281 flash controller for great data transfer speeds. Kingston then introduced their new Phison controlled M.2 SATA 3 SSD capable of speeds of 550MB/s read and 520MB/s write performance. New M.2 SSDs are the fastest and smallest form of storage available today. Staying with the flash theme but moving a bit away from storage, Kingston then introduced their latest HyperX Fury DDR3 memory in several colors. HyperX Fury memory is probably the most value driven memory today that allows for excellent overclocking configurations. Last up on our docket we decided to show you Kingston's newest HyperX Impact SODIMM memory. Impact memory is intended for those enthusiasts and gamers who want to upgrade their laptop memory to the performance we typically see in gaming systems. Impact memory will ship in frequencies from 1600MHz to 2400MHz and in capacities of 4Gb and 8GB single kit and 8GB and 16GB dual. From a personal perspective, this event was untouchable and the added thrill of experiencing Taipei while jetting in and out of traffic in a Ferrari Spider simply can't be matched. To our friends David Leong, Nick Shen and the entire Kingston Team....kudos as this was definitely a highlight for us, as well as many others we are sure! Here are a few more shots! NEXT PAGE...
Not jealous… oh no, not at all… OK! Maybe a little bit 🙂
Nice piece, just a query about something on p3, “IMpact memory will ship in frequencies from 1600MHz to 24MHz and in capacities”, should that be 2400MHz?
Ya we fixed that up tx.
No worries 🙂
