The larger earbuds are in part due to the Trackfit Motion Sensor, which can measure distance, pace, steps, cadence and calories burned. This is all saved in the Jabro Sport Life App (more on this later).
Another reason for the larger size is that the micro USB port is built directly into the ear piece, as seen below.
Going into a bit more detail as what we can below the hood of these earbuds, they are equipped with NFC for easy pairing, have sweat and weather resistance at IP55, weighs a mere 0.56 oz., features bluetooth 4.0 with a range of 10 meters and has a battery life span of up to 5.5 hours of active usage, while also having 10 days on standby.
JABRA’S SPORT LIFE APP
The Jabra Sport Life App is a means for recording the data that is collected by earbuds while you are training. In addition, it helps you plan, track and analyze your workout.
What we found most intriguing about the application was that the coaching provided by the app is actually personalized to where you are in your workout. This is like having a personal trainer built into your phone (and we’re sure its also at a fraction of the cost too!).
The earbuds are also compatible with Endomondo, RunKeeper, mapmyfitness, Strava and Runtastic applications.
REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
As we have said before, with any headphone, earbud or any audio device for that matter, the only real way to test them is to put them into the environment they were meant for. In the case of the Jabro Sport Coach Wireless Earbuds, we put them through approximately 10 workouts over a period of two weeks, which varied from crossfit, to steady state cardio, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and your general weight-lifting workout. By far, this is the best set of earbuds/earphones we have tested to date!
The quality of the audio is solid, providing a strong mid range with a moderate high range and decent bass. While we can’t say that the audio quality is the best part of these earbuds, we can say that we are not disappointed with it. What really blew us away was the comfort of these earbuds. We have tested and worn various earbuds/earphones in the past and none of them has been as comfortable as these. We kept the stock earbuds on the Jabra Sport Coach and they felt like they were a perfect form to the ear. This could also partly do to the minimal weight of the earbuds, but the shape and design is spectacular.
Prior to testing the earbuds, we did some research on what other people were saying about the Jabra Sport Coach, and one of the points that stuck with us was that these earbuds have sub-par battery life. We kept this in mind while testing our sample, and as it turns out the sample we tested with overachieved it’s listed specifications of 5.5 hours of use and 10 days of standby. We have not charged the unit since we received it and well after 10 days and multiple workouts (lasting at least a hour in length), we are still on that same charge. You can pick up these ear buds for a $199.99 price tag, a little steep, but totally worth it!
We can’t say enough about how impressed we are with the Jabra Sport Coach Wireless Earbuds. The single fact that these are the most comfortable earbuds we have ever had the privilege of putting in our ears entices us to fall in love with these earbuds.
