Anvil Storage Utilities is essentially an all-in-one tool for all of your SSD benchmarking needs. Anvil can be used for basic consumer testing, as well as endurance testing and threaded I/O read, write and mixed tests. It displays data regarding the SSD, and even about your system.

Anvil Storage Utilities provides an excellent breakdown of the performance for both set ups we are currently observing. The single Intel SSD provides us with performance consistent to that of Intel’s listings, and further generates a respectable Total Score of 4740. The RAID 0 set up again demonstrated performance that is consistent to what we have seen throughout the review thus far. The two Intel SSD’s produce a Total Score of 6384.
Technology X uses benchmark software called PCMark Vantage x64 HDD Suite to create testing scenarios that might be used in the typical user experience. There are eight tests in all and the tests performed record the speed of data movement in MB/s to which they are then given a numerical score after all of the tests are complete. The simulations are as follows:
- Windows Defender In Use
- Streaming Data from storage in games such as Alan Wake which allows for massive worlds and riveting non-stop action
- Importing digital photos into Windows Photo Gallery
- Starting the Vista Operating System
- Home Video editing with Movie Maker which can be very time-consuming
- Media Center which can handle video recording, time shifting and streaming from Windows media center to an extender such as Xbox
- Cataloging a music library
- Starting applications
INTEL SSD 730 SERIES PCMARK VANTAGE TOTAL SCORE
We performed PCMark Vantage HDD Suite testing for the Intel SSD 730 Series as a single unit, and also in RAID 0. The single SSD scored 59283 points, meanwhile in RAID 0 the Intel SSD 730 Series scored 69443 points. Additionally, there are some fairly low transfer speeds that contribute to the lower Vantage score. In retrospect, we are expecting lower than ideal scores with Vantage as it tests bests with FOB drives, that of which both definitely are not.

The Intel SSD 730 Series provides users with a high quality drive that can achieve excellent performance and has the endurance to last for many years. All of which is accompanied by an excellent price point, which makes this drive well deserving of the Technology X Top Value award.
In games like Battlefield 4, a RAID 0 configuration would probably be a benefit. I have a 128GB Toshiba SSD, I was going to make a RAID 0 with it. I have read many articles where they get almost 100% speed increase in a RAID 0. I have a 2GB RAID 0 with two Samsung F3’s for my games. My OS is on my 128GB SSD with Battlefield 4. My goal was always to have two RAID 0’s eventually. Because of large files, movies, games, music etc. there is a still a place for the magnetic drives.
SSD’s are becoming less and less expensive, it’s only a matter of time until they are equally priced to match magnetic drives.
