ALL AROUND THE EXTERIOR
The 500W Cougar RX follows the traditional orange and black colour scheme, matching essentially all of Cougar’s line of products. The frame is actually smaller than typical power supply units, and has smooth rounded edges. We will see if the size makes a difference in performance and cooling, but one big advantage is it makes the device easy to open.
At the bottom of the PSU we have the usual specifications and power ratings seen on the packaging:
One of the reasons why the Cougar RX Series is inexpensive is due to its completely non-modular system, which may put some off. Luckily, Cougar has implemented extremely long cables, which is both a good and bad concept – good if your motherboard power inputs and chassis cable grommets are far away from the PSU; bad if they are not, making the cables harder to tuck away and manage.
On the other side we have the power input area with an on/off switch. Again the the 500W Cougar RX does not come with a 125V power cord.
