A few years ago, good audio and great style never seemed to mix until Beats and Monster introduced their popular Beats line taking the consumer audio market by storm. Nowadays, headphones have become a bit of a fashion item. Many industry oriented audio companies are starting to bring their expertise to the consumer market, offering fashionable and high quality products aimed at the mainstream consumer.
One such manufacturer is Sennheiser, a German company whose products are known throughout the industry to offer some of the best audio equipment around. Today we are reporting on the Sennheiser Momentum, possibly the first upper tier headphone Sennheiser’s produced with the mainstream consumer in mind.
EXTERIOR PACKAGING AND COMPONENTS
The Sennheiser Momentum headphones are packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with a simple and modest outward appearance that lists all the information about the enclosed product.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Sennheiser’s premium headphone packaging as they appear modest on the outside but, on first glance at the contents, they afford a luxurious feel and the Momentum’s packaging does not disappoint.
On opening the box you are greeted by the case that comes with the product resting in a foam inlay on one side and a black envelope which contains the manuals on the other.
When you open the clamshell case you are greeted by the Momentum headphones themselves.
Other accessories within the case are found beneath a Velcro flap. This includes a 6.3mm adapter and a remoteless cable for people who don’t need the Apple remote and microphone.
The cables are rather durable as they are made out of Kevlar For those who aren’t aware, Kevlar is the same material used to make bullet proof vests. Before moving on we would like to note how the jack of the remote cable has a pivot that allows it to pivot 90 degrees which is ingenious as it helps relieve stress in the cable by allowing it to move freely. Also it is important to mention that, like all Sennheiser products, the Momentum comes with a two year warranty.

Gorgeous Headphones!!!
The Sennheiser Momentum is a premium headphone at a premium price with a simple but elegant design. It's sound quality holds its own in the fairly crowded $300 market and it's luxurious design is appealing even in the growing designer headphone market. The case is a little bulky and feels a tad impractical sometimes but the overall build quality is pronominal and feels like what you would expect for a product of this price.
Have you tried these headphones on a plane and if so how did they sound? Love these cans at home!!
No we haven’t… Traditionally, we choose to have noise eliminating headphones for air travel:
