NVELO, Inc., pioneer of the innovative Dataplex caching software for HDDs and SSDs, has been acquired by Samsung Electronics. Previously privately held NVELO, based in Santa Clara, California, has become an industry leader with its flagship Dataplex caching software. All technology and personnel of NVELO are included in this acquisition. Samsung will now be able to include storage software expertise to its next-generation SSDs.
SSD caching has become an attractive storage management solution in both the enterprise and consumer computing markets. By integrating NVELO’s premier Dataplex technology into Samsung’s best-in-class SSD technologies, Samsung will be able to offer customers a more diversified suite of NAND storage solutions suitable for a broad range of computng applications.
According to Young-Hyun Jun, executive vice president of Flash product & technology at Samsung, “The acquisition of NVELO will enable us to extend our ability to provide SSD related storage solutions to customers. We are pleased with this transaction as the employees of NVELO share our vision to take SSD storage into the next-generation of performance and reliabilty.”
