As you saw a couple weeks ago we had our first glance at home monitoring systems with iFamCare’s Helmet. Today we are going to take you into Technology X’s home monitoring system review 2.0, The Remocam. This home monitoring system really steps up the standard as far as affordable and reliable products are concerned and comes from a company who received the innovation award at CES 2016.
INTRO
When we received the confirmation to receive the Remocam we got right to work researching and learning more about what was to come. Available on both Android and iOS this home monitoring system’s main characteristics are it’s smart home influence and the ease of set up. The device is black, sleek and looks like it will blend in decently with it’s surroundings. If you go to Remocam’s webpage you’ll be able to learn some of Remocam‘s main features. An illumination sensor distinguishing night and day to automatically adjust the night vision which is comprised of eight infrared LED’s. 720p HD Video and Pictures seems to be the most we are going to get which is shy of 1080p but should still suffice as long as you aren’t monitoring a room that is very deep. There are also a speakers and a microphone, which we would expect. Then we get to he infrared receiver, which gives the Remocam more diverse smart home capabilities.
PACKAGING & CONTENTS
As far as we could find Remocam is only available by order and not retailing yet so flashy, buy-me packaging isn’t a necessity, yet Remocam’s box is intriguing. It’s white on all sides with the front and back reading Remocam and their quote, “Take care of loved ones with more control”. The top is where you’ll get your first peak at the unit itself. Along the side you’ll see all the key features of the Remocam, from the simplicity of it’s one-minute setup to the technicality of it’s 256-bit encryption to ensure your personal protection. The Remocam’s packaging doesn’t need to be too flashy because what’s held inside packs the punch. The other side gives the terms of Remocam’s 1 year limited warranty. Opening the box you’ll remove the top protective foam and you’ll see the unit along with the power cable. Included in the box you’ll also see a quickstart guide for both the Remocam and for setting up remote-use. Unfortunately, there is no wall mount included with the unit which is disappointing considering it’s only an additional $5 on amazon. The only included parts are the Remocam itself and the power cable.
If you look at the backside of the device you’ll see there are four ports. Line in, line out, the micro-SD slot and the power port.
