Here we have it, a gaming keyboard mouse combo that looks cool, feels good and doesn’t hurt the wallet. From the first look at the packaging you can see this combo means business. Today we are looking at Thermaltake’s Tt eSPORTS Commander Gaming Gear Combo
It’s easy to see where this duo got their name from with its rigid black frame with metallic border inserts this combo commands respect. We will separate the two and kick it off with the keyboard.
THERMALTAKE COMMANDER KEYBOARD
The Commander Keyboard is mean, aggressive and exactly the look you would want to pluck your foes from their virtual lives one by one. The keyboard is configured with plunger style keys and has a blue backlight. It can be switched to a fade in/fade out function by clicking the Fn key and its neighbor, the backlight key, dimmed to one of three brightness levels by using the Fn key and the PG UP/PG DN keys, or turned off by simply hitting the backlight key. When the backlight is on the Tt eSPORTS logo is lit at the top of the keyboard as well as the two sides, with blue patterning. The visuals of this keyboard are definitely a step up from the Poseidon Z Blue Keyboard we reviewed last year, which shows Thermaltake is continually stepping their game up.
The Commander Keyboard gives us 170 cm of cord to play with desktop accessibility as well the dimensions at their widest edges are 48 cm x 20 cm and the height fluctuates between 4 and 4.5 cm depending on if you use the kickstands on the back of the board. While we have the board flipped looking at the kick stands, notice the rubber grips at the front of the board which give it great traction on any desktop surface. You may also notice two small square holes with some of the keyboard light piercing through.
These aren’t for aerodynamics but are actually part of the boards spill defense mechanism. The board is water resistant as spills will glide down the board and out through these two slots as shown in the video below.
Don’t mistake this for water proof, as if you submerge or spill too much on the keyboard you may ruin it. The top of the plunger key when the key itself is taken off shows where the accessibility of water may affect the keyboards functioning.
FEATURES
Thermaltake has kicked up accessibility with the features on this keyboard. Starting with the “F” keys. They are split in groups of four as most boards we review are but these ones have functionality behind them. When combined with the Fn key each key has a specific function. Some of these you may find more useful than others, but we are definitely impressed with the ability to open Firefox, Outlook and the calculator with a quick shortcut key click rather than a mouse browse.

Solid Value!
With an amazing look, feel at such a low price this is an impressive combo. We would only like to see an ambidextrous mouse next time.
Good commentary covering the features and feel of the ‘board and pictures give a good impression of the looks and style. I just found the perfect replacement for my fading Logi k/b. Thx for the review
