Back in June Technology X made the trip over to Taiwan, where we had the chance to sit down with Zotac and see the latest and greatest. Take a look at our article where Zotac was showcasing a couple of their mini PC’s as well as their GeForce GTX 780 AMP! graphics card. Founded in 2006, ZOTAC is a Chinese-based company that focuses on the production of motherboards, mini PC’s and NVIDIA based graphics cards. Today, Technology X has the great opportunity of checking out two ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 AMP! Edition graphics cards. Our review will consist of a tear down of the graphics card, followed by a gruelling series of tests in the Technology X labs.
WHY DO I WANT A GRAPHICS CARD?
Recently we posted an article describing the who, what, when, where, why and how of graphics cards. If you are new to the graphics card market and are looking to further your knowledge of graphics cards then we encourage you to start your journey there. Simply put, a graphics card is a dedicated piece of hardware that is situated in the PCI Express bus interface found on your motherboard. This powerful device supplies a dedicated source of processing power to generate the graphics that will fill your monitor with exceptional 3D quality.
GPU SPECIFICATIONS
The ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 AMP! Edition comes in the usual sized packaging which features a basic overview of the card on the front side of the packaging, and a quick outline of it’s main features on the backside.
Inside the packaging you will find the graphics situated in it’s foam resting place, 2 MOLEX to 6-Pin PCIe power adapters and a DVI to VGA adapter. Zotac has also included an Assasin’s Creed 3-Game Pack, which includes Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed II Deluxe Edition and Assassin’s Creed Revelations.
The ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 AMP! Edition is an older card (originally released in 2012), but with consistent driver updates, it can still keep up in terms of performance. The ZOTAC graphics card can be purchased for $399 and comes with ZOTAC’s standard two year warranty for manufactures defects, that can further be upgraded to three years. Unfortunately due to age of the graphics card, the availability is slimming down.

Awesome Graphics!
The ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 AMP! Edition is a great option if you are looking to upgrade the graphical performance of your system. Being an older card you may be able to achieve better pricing and will be able to run a cheap, but high quality, multi-GPU system, of course if can manage to get your hands on them!
