Technology X stopped by the Patriot suite where we met up with Scot Banks, Marketing Manager for Patriot Americas, who gave us the run down on what Patriot was showcasing this year at CES.
MOBILE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
With the growing population of mobile media devices, the importance of keeping those devices charged becomes relatively important, especially for those long trips. A product line that Patriot was focusing on this year was mobile rechargeable batteries than are extremely portable, and carry sufficient amperage to successfully recharge your mobile device, whether it be your tablet or smartphone.
Technology X was introduced to the Fuel+ line, which comes in variety amperage capacities of 1500 mAh (a version specifically for iOS devices with a lightning port), 2200, 3000, 5200, 6000, 7800 and 9000 mAh. The lower amperage battery (2200 and 3000 Fuel+) comes with one USB port, but the higher capacities feature two USB ports. Going one step further, the larger capacities also feature 2.5A output to sufficiently charge tablets.
Thanks to Scot, and Patriot, we received a 5200 mAh Fuel+ mobile rechargeable battery that we will be taking a look at in full detail later on.
For those of you who live a more active/outdoor lifestyle, and may require battery charge on the go, the Fuel Active battery would be your product of choice. The Fuel Active features a 6000 mAh capacity, two USB charging ports (1A and 2.5A), as well as a three-stage flashlight for times when you may be caught in the dark.
The Fuel Active will also come in a smaller form factor that will feature a 2000 mAh battery, as well as a bright flashlight.
The finale of the mobile rechargeable battery tour was Patriot’s ceramic battery, code-named “Flex”. Flex will be bendable and come in a variety of capacities. The image below displays a prototype of the ceramic battery, which shows just how thin the battery can be. It’ll be very interesting to see where Patriot takes the ceramic battery, and what will become of this exciting piece of hardware.
STORAGE
The tour continues, as we are introduced to the Stellar Mini USB storage. This USB device will be available with 16, 32, and 64 GB capacities, and features both USB 3.0 as well as micro USB technologies.
The benefit of such a product would be for that of Android users who are looking to easily transport media and files from their mobile device to their computer. It is as simple as connecting the Stellar Mini to your mobile device and using the file manager to copy your data. Currently shown above are two possible prototypes for the Stellar Mini, the left featuring a cap for the micro USB, and the right featuring a swiveling cover. We will have to wait to see which prototype is chosen, as the product will be released later on this year.
IPAD BLUETOOTH KEYBOARDS
To finish of our tour of the Patriot suite, Technology X was introduced to Patriot’s lineup of Bluetooth keyboards for both the iPad Air as well as the iPad Mini, which either come in a stylish, MacBook Pro-like appearance, or a leather case which features a detachable keyboard.
Patriot had a lot of products on display for us this year at CES. It will be interesting to see where their product lines are later on in the year, especially with the thought of using bendable batteries.
